The end of the year is almost here! We want to help you recycle your metal waste and make sure your festive season is as sustainable as possible. When you’re getting the tree out of the loft, digging for decorations in the garage or just having a clear-out, look around to see if there’s anything you could bring to Singletons and get some spare cash for Christmas.
What Christmas items can you recycle?
Vintage decorations
While you’re rooting around trying to find the baubles you swore you packed away in the loft less than 12 months ago, you might have a lightbulb moment when you spot them. Vintage Christmas decorations were often made from metals like aluminium, brass and copper, which can all be recycled If you’re upgrading your tree this year.
Garden toys and furniture
Upgrading the garden for your elves? If your little ones have asked for a new swing set, and you’re wondering what Santa can do with the worn-out trampoline taking up space, why not suggest he bring it to Singletons? Trampoline frames are easily recycled and can be collected or brought to the yard.
Drinks cans
If you’ll be putting a drink out for Santa on Christmas Eve or having one or two to celebrate the festive season, keep the cans! Aluminium cans can be crushed and recycled to be turned back into drinks cans ready for next year’s festivities, just pop them in your metal and plastic recycling bin at home.
String lights and wires
If your fairy lights have gone from a gorgeous string of twinkles to a long mess of tangles, it might be time to recycle them. Some string lights contain enough metal to be recycled and Singletons can recycle metal, PVC and armoured cable.
Recycling isn’t just for Christmas
When the festivities end, and it’s time to put the tree back in the box or when you’re sifting through piles of wrapping paper, before binning anything, ask yourself if it can be recycled. Singletons is open all year round, Monday to Friday from 7am until 5pm, so there’s no excuse if you end up on Santa’s naughty list next year!
If you need any help supporting Santa this year or are unsure if your items are suitable for scrap, contact us for more information or pop into our scrap yard for a quote and same-day payments.
